Get to Know Us

Senapati District Rural Development Association (SDRDA) is a grassroots non-governmental organization established in 1995 to support the development and well-being of rural communities in Senapati District, Manipur.

For over three decades, we have worked alongside communities and village authorities to address local challenges, strengthen community participation and create opportunities for sustainable development.

Today, SDRDA is expanding its focus on rural development, environmental protection, waste management, forest restoration and community resilience.

We believe that meaningful change begins at the grassroots. By working together with communities, local institutions and partners, we strive to bridge resource gaps, protect our fragile hill ecosystems and build stronger, more resilient communities for generations to come.

Our journey began in 1995. Our commitment to the community continues.⁵

Our Mission

To serve as a trusted partner to rural communities by turning local needs into meaningful action.

SDRDA works to strengthen communities through participatory development, capacity building, sustainable livelihoods, environmental stewardship, and improved access to opportunities and essential resources.

We are committed to working with communities, not simply for them—bringing together local knowledge, collective action, and available resources to create solutions that are practical, inclusive, and sustainable.

At the heart of our mission is a commitment to ensure that development reaches the people and places that need it most.

Our Vision

To see rural communities thrive with dignity, resilience, and self-reliance, where people have the opportunity to shape their own future and where development goes hand in hand with the protection of nature.

We envision communities where people are empowered, local institutions are strengthened, livelihoods are sustainable, children and families have greater opportunities, and forests and natural resources are protected for generations to come.

Our vision is a future in which no community is left behind and progress does not come at the cost of the environment.
